A naming or baby welcoming ceremony is such a special way to bring your family and friends together to welcome a new arrival into your life, in whatever way they became part of your life. There are many ways that you can personalise the ceremony to represent what’s important to you, through poems, readings and enhancements. These also allow you to include any other children, along with your family and friends in the ceremony.
Parents/guardians can make their promises and if you choose to have guide parents/godparents, they can also make their promises to the child. I will weave any enhancements into the ceremony, along with celebrating their name and their story.
Baby naming ceremonies can be carried out any day of the week, in any location of your choice. My cost includes crafting your personalised ceremony, carrying out any enhancements you want to include and all meetings and correspondence in the lead up to the ceremony.
I have a son who’s autistic and understand the challenges and stress that can come with organising a ceremony which includes a child/children who are neurodivergent. I can work closely with you to create a ceremony with their needs in mind, in a neuro affirmative way.
I love working with families to create a personalised and memorable naming ceremony. You need a Celebrant who’s the right fit for you and what you want from your ceremony, so get in touch to organise a chat and see if we’re a right fit for each other!
Price from €250 (plus mileage if applicable)
There are many different ceremony enhancements to choose from:
A family and baby candle to symbolise the new light in your life.
A remembrance candle to honour those who have passed.
A sand ceremony is a great way of including children in the ceremony. Different coloured sand can be poured into a vessel, which you’ll have as a keepsake.
A memory box could contain baby scans, keepsakes, photos of the baby, hand & foot prints, first toys & books etc. These items can be added to the box during the ceremony.
A wishing tree is a lovely way of getting everyone included in the ceremony where you ask everyone to write a wish for the baby/child and then tie it to the tree. This can also be done where a tree has been planted as part of the ceremony.
“While Brian and I always knew we wanted a Naming Ceremony instead of a traditional (religious) Christening to celebrate the arrival of our daughter Annie, neither of us had ever actually attended one. Orla instantly put us at ease the moment we met her. She guided us through all the beautiful options we could include in a Baby Naming Ceremony and helped us to narrow it down to choosing the elements of the ceremony that best represented us and our new family. From the outset Orla was like a friend and was the perfect fit for our celebration. Both our families thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony and complimented how lovely Orla made everything. We would highly recommend Orla to anyone and look forward to hopefully including Orla in many more family events to come, long into the future.”
