You can personalise your ceremony with different enhancements or rituals to symbolise your love and commitment to one another. Here is a selection of enhancements, but if you have something else in mind, let’s discuss to see how we can incorporate it into your ceremony.

Ring Warming

This is the perfect enhancement, especially for a smaller, more intimate wedding. At the start of the ceremony, the rings are passed around to all your guests—ideally in a box or tied to a cushion—so they can bestow their love and best wishes on the rings, before you exchange them later in the ceremony. It’s a lovely way to involve everyone in your ceremony.

Unity Candle

The unity candle ceremony uses three candles to symbolise the joining of two individuals and their families. The two smaller candles represent each person and the family they come from and can be lit by someone from each family. The third, larger unity candle represents the couple uniting. Together, they each light the unity candle from their individual flames, signifying the union of their love and the merging of their families into one.

Remembrance Candle

A remembrance candle is a beautiful way to honour and remember loved ones who have passed but are still cherished in your hearts. This candle is lit at the beginning of the ceremony, and you may choose to include a poem or special words to acknowledge them.

Handfasting

Handfasting is a beautiful ancient Celtic tradition, coming from Brehon Law, and it is where the phrase "tying the knot" originates. During the ceremony, a cord or ribbons are wrapped around the couple's clasped hands. They then use their free hand to pull the ends, creating a symbolic knot that represents their union and commitment to one another.

Sand Ceremony

The sand blending ceremony is a beautiful way to visually symbolise your unity. Different coloured sands, or sands from meaningful places to you, are poured together, creating a gorgeous keepsake. Each colour can hold special significance, which can be included in the ceremony. This is also a wonderful option if you’d like to include children, making it a heartfelt and memorable moment for everyone involved.

Wine Box Ceremony

This enhancement involves sealing a bottle of wine—or your favourite drink—along with letters to each other in a box during your ceremony. The idea is to open the box and enjoy the drink while reading the letters on a future wedding anniversary, creating a special moment to reflect on your love and journey together. It's a meaningful way to celebrate your commitment now and in the years to come.
